4. the driver sore the lahar and breaked but cont did not stop  the front half of the train  was the first people to dead.  

5. on Christmas day it was announced 151 people dead .

                       3 WHAT IS GINGER BEER? Ginger beer is a naturally fizzy beverage with a sweet and spicy bite. Grated ginger is fermented in sugar water and lemon juice, allowing the natural yeasts in ginger to feed and multiply, creating a probiotic beverage. 

 method:

equipment :

water

leman juice 

ginger 

popsicle stick

cup 

sugar 

yeast 

 instruction:

put yeast in the cup 

then the suger 

put lukewarm water in the same cup with the yeast and sugar 

let it set 

then put lemon juice in the cup 

add ginger 

and more sugar 

and let sit for 24 hour 

this is my full cup it was disgusting i can't describe the taste it a biter mess 

it smells like baby formula this is what it looks like when i tipped it in the sink 

The Ballantynes Fire

 This week for our disasters hurumanu we are looking at the Ballantynes Fire. 

Predictions:

What do I think I know about this disaster:

- There was a fire on November 18th 1974, because it told me in the title. 

- People died because the fire must have burnt them badly. 

What do I think I will find out about this disaster?

- That some people survived

- That it burned down the town/location

- How it started

- How they put it out

Task 2- Read and Research

1. It was an exclusive store because it was for rich people- the girls wore hats and gloves and the men wore suits. 

2. In Christchurch City. 

3. On November the 18th 1947, at 3.46pm and it didn't end until the embers went out 4 days later. 

4. They weren't told because it was in the basement and the downstairs workers didn't think it was a problem for the upstairs workers. 

5. 41 employees died. 

6. We have a safety plan, smoke alarms and sprinklers.
