1. The plane was heading on a sightseeing trip around Antarctica, seeing McMurdo sound and Scott has

3. The pilot asked to descend to 450m so that the passengers could have a better view.
4. The pilot and co-pilot weren't told about the course change. There was also a whiteout which meant they couldn't tell the difference between the sky, land or snow.

The plane picked up passengers in Auckland and Christchurch. - the navigation equipment didn't work well near the poles so had issues in Antarctica - Mt Erebus is an active volcano on Ross Island - The plane was only supposed to drop to 6,000 feet when flying near Mt Erebus. - They were 30/40 feet away from where they thought they were because of the course change. -The flight was a sight seeing trip that cost $359 pp - There were 237 passengers and 20 crew on board the flight. - The plane descends to 1500 feet as they make there way around ross island -1249 the alarm tells them to pull up. - Investigators say a serve -bodies had to be chipped out of the ice and snow after the crash.  

-10 police officers were sent down to the Erebus crash site to find the bodies.  

I lean that it was an accident how they are going to stop this in the present
